LOWELL - William Paul “Billy” Desharnais, 44, a member of a well known Tewksbury family,died unexpectedly Monday, Dec. 15, at Lowell General Hospital.He was born in Lowell, Oct. 21, 1959, a son of Roland and Barbara (Grant) Desharnais, whoreside in Tewksbury. He was raised in Tewksbury, and graduated from Shawsheen ValleyTechnical High School, with the class of 1977. He moved to Lowell in 1977.
He worked for several area high-tech companies as an administrative assistant.He will be remembered as a composer and poet, and had attended several national poetryconventions.
He was a former communicant of St. William’s Church, a volunteer at Saint’s Memorial Medical Center,and a member of the “Mixed Nuts” bowling league at the Brunswick Lanes in Lowell.
Besides his parents; he is survived by three sisters and a brother-in-law, Ann Marie and herhusband Walter Cantwell of Tyngsboro, Pat Judd of Lowell, Linda Y. Desharnais of Tewksbury;three brothers and two sisters-in-law, John A, Desharnais of Tewksbury, Roland E. and his wifeElizabeth (Silva) Desharnais of Burlington, Kevin W. and his wife Joann (Carney) Desharnais ofPelham, NH; ten nieces and nephews; seven grand nieces and nephews; and several aunts anduncles.
He was also brother of the late Thomas D. Desharnais.
His Funeral Mass was held Friday, Dec. 19, in St. William’s Church. Interment was in Tewksbury Cemetery.
