Obituary

George J. Lima, age 84, of Tiverton passed away November 13, 2010. He was husband of Pearl (Cavaco) Lima and the late Christine Capobianco Lima and son of the late William and Mary (Sousa Furtado) Lima. George had been a proud truck driver for over 50 years for Old Colony, Hemingway, and Cooper Jarret Trucking Companies before retiring. He was a Teamster Retiree of Local #251, a member of the Portsmouth Knights of Columbus, a volunteer at St. Anne’s Hospital and a parishioner of Holy Ghost Church.

Besides his loving wife, he is survived by daughter: Christine Torrealday of Saunderstown, RI; 2 brothers: William and Edmund Lima, both of Somerset, Ryan, his grandson, and several nieces and nephews. He was the devoted brother of the late Ethyl Dwyer.

His funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St., Fall River WEDNESDAY at 9:30 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Ghost Church, Judson St., Tiverton at 11:00 A.M. Interment in St. Anne’s Cemetery, Cranston. Calling hours TUESDAY 4-7 P.M. In lieu of flowers, kindly make a donation to St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
