LILLY, KAREN FRANCES, passed away on November 9, 2010 in Louisville, Kentucky. Playful, fun, and adventurous, Karen took ownership of her life, ultimately creating a journey full of adventure and purpose. Her journey began on June 26, 1962 with her mother, Ellen Smith. Karen grew up in Canoga Falls, California with the Lilly family where she graduated from Corona Del Mar High School in 1980. She went on to graduate from Central State University – Long Beach with an undergraduate Psychology degree in 1985, followed by graduation from Pepperdine University with Masters in Psychology and Education in 1989.
Karen founded a psychotherapy and education clinic for women in Seattle which she ran for 19 years. Over the years, Karen held counseling positions across the country where she changed innumerable lives. Karen will be remembered from coast to coast for her passion, her strong will, and her intelligence. She enjoyed horseback riding, swimming, and the arts, but she was so much more than just these. Karen inspired hope, brought change, and touched people.
A Celebration of Life service will be conducted Monday, November 15, 2010 at 4 p.m. at Owen Funeral Home-Jeffersontown, 9318 Taylorsville Road. Visitation will be from 2:30 -4 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may be made in Karen’s honor to the American Cancer Society.
