Lillian F. Ballou

NASHUA, NH - Lillian F. (Reilly) Ballou, age 86, matriarch of a large well known Tewksbury family, died Thursday afternoon, Nov. 11, at the Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in Nashua, following a long period of declining health. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph F. Ballou Sr., who died in 1983.
She was born in Somerville, December 18, 1923, one of six children of Arthur and Esther (Underhill) Reilly. She was raised in Somerville, graduated from Somerville High School, and lived in Tewksbury for twenty five years while raising her family of eleven children. As a resident of Tewksbury, she was a communicant of St. William's Church. She retired to Nashua, in 2003.
In her later years she worked as a secretary at the Middlesex Community College.
She is survived by six sons, Joseph Ballou Jr. of Temple,NH, Stephen Ballou and his wife Joanne (O'Brien) of Exeter, NH, Gary Ballou of Nashua, NH, with whom she made her home, Jonathan Ballou and his wife Nancy (Bowler) if Oregon, WI, Robert Ballou of Hudson,MA, and Michael Ballou and his spouse Gerrilyn Moriarty of Hollis NH; four daughters, Priscilla Zakos and her husband Byron of Hudson, NH, Louise "Terry" Ruggerio and her husband Anthony "Tony" of Londonderry, NH, Susan Fiorenza and her fiance Leo Rochon of Londonderry, NH, and Maryellen Brailsford and her husband Terry of Hudson, NH; twenty seven grandchildren; thirty eight great grandchildren; a sister, Claire McNally of Woburn; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also mother of the late infant David Ballou, the late Timothy Ballou who died in 1979, and sister of the late Anna Kraus, Arthur Reilly Jr., Dolly Reilly and Janet Reilly.
Her Funeral Mass was held Tuesday Nov. 16, in St. William's Church, Tewksbury. Burial followed at Tewksbury Cemetery.
