Obituary

John E. “Jack” Barry, age 77, died November 10, 2010. He was a lifelong resident of Brockton, the son of the late John and Margaret (O’Reilly) Barry. He was the loving husband of Marguerite (Hobson) Pearson-Barry. Jack was a graduate of Brockton High School, class of 1950; College of the Holy Cross, Class of 1954 and received a Masters Degree from Bridgewater State College.

Jack served in the Army Security Agency during the Korean War. He worked as a Social Worker for the City of Brockton and the Town of Stoughton before entering the field of education. Jack taught at the middle school level in Middleboro from 1959 to 1964; at West Jr. High School in Brockton from 1964 to 1966; and as a School Adjustment Counselor at the elementary level in Brockton from 1966 until his retirement in 1994. After his retirement, he worked as a Home Teacher for the Brockton School Department.

Jack is survived by his wife Marguerite of Brockton, a daughter Rosemary Harwood and her husband Daniel of Rockville, MD and their four children: Timothy, Patrick, Emily and Colleen; a daughter Diane Croft and her husband Kenneth of Westborough, MA and their three children Stephen, Joseph and Margaret, a son Michael and his wife Kathy Barry of Portsmouth, RI and their daughter Katherine, a daughter Mary Ellen Rogers and her husband Brian and their six children; Nicole, Eric, Brian, Sammy, Kelly and Maggie of West Bridgewater, a son Shawn and his wife Kim Barry of Bridgewater and their four children Camryn, Jack, Luke and Lacey; a daughter Kathleen Willfong and her husband Donald of Brockton and their two children Erin and Stacy and her companion Marc Oshry. Jack was also the brother of the late Barbara Eranio of Brockton and Ocala, Florida.

Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Tuesday at 8am. Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 9am. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery. Visiting Hours Monday 3-7pm. In lieu of flowers donations in Jack’s name may be made to Old Colony Hospice One Credit Union Way, Randolph, MA 02368.
