Evelyn E. (Harrison) Bence Gries, 86, of Dartmouth died Wednesday November 10, 2010 at the New Bedford Jewish Convalescent Home after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Robert A. Gries and late Raymond Bence.
Born in Sagamore, the daughter of the late John Lester and Maude L. (Percival) Harrison, she lived in New Bedford and Dartmouth for all of her life.
Mrs. Gries was formerly employed as a office worker for the Keystone Company.
She had been a volunteer for Bishop Stang Bingo for 35 years.
Survivors include two children, Gail English-White and her husband Anthony White of Riverside, RI, and Raymond Bence and his wife Brenda of Dartmouth; two stepsons, Donald Gries and his wife Carol of Dartmouth and David Gries of Mattapoisett; four brothers, George D. Harrison of Falmouth, Horace Harrison of Satellite Beach, FL, William Harrison of Mobile, AL, and Carl Harrison of Sagamore; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Jennie Randlett, Mace Harrison, and Walter Harrison.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Saturday at 11AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in Sagamore Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Friday from 5-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the New Bedford Jewish Convalescent Home, 200 Hawthorn St., New Bedford.
