Rita (Foley) Barry, 79, of Walpole died November 10 in the Hemenway Street Hearthstone Assisted Living Facility in Marlboro. She was the wife of the late Gerald J. Barry who died in 1998.
Born in Dorchester, August 4, 1931, the daughter of the late Coleman and Mary (Baretti) Foley, Mrs. Barry was raised in Dorchester and had lived in Walpole since 1963.
Mrs. Barry was a graduate of the Jeremiah Burke High School in Boston and worked for 20 years for the New England Telephone Company.
Rita loved spending time at her beach house at Priscilla Beach in Plymouth and being with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Mary Ellen Barry of Walpole, Gerald E. Barry and his wife Lynn of Franklin and Patricia Campbell and her husband Chris of Franklin.
She is also survived by her brother Edward Foley and his wife Ethel of Dorchester and her grandchildren, Caitlin, Michael and Meaghan Barry and Christopher and Daniel Campbell.
She was the sister of the late Malcolm and Charles Foley, Dorothy Blizard, Helen Slyva and Louise Rousseau.
Her funeral will be held from the Ginley Funeral Home, 892 Main St. in Walpole on Saturday at 9:15 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Timothy’s Church in Norwood at 10:00.
Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery in South Walpole.
Visiting hours will be on Friday from 4-8 p.m.
