Edna Tucker Stone, 92, of Tifton died Tuesday, November 9, 2010, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 11, 2010, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. William Arnold and Rev. Roger Tucker will officiate with burial to follow in Lawrence Cemetery. Grandsons, Keith Hickman, Brad Hickman, Braxton Driskell, Shane Stone, Zach Stone, and Tommy Ross Vance will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 10, 2010, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Stone was born on September 9, 1918 in Irwin County. She was the daughter of the late Robert Walter Tucker and Katherine Carver Tucker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Samuel Lee Stone; two sisters, Mamie Tucker Stone and Dorothy Tucker Pearson; and one brother, Marvin Tucker. She was a devoted housewife and helpmate to her husband of 67 years; a wonderful mother to her three children and loving nanny to eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She was an active member of Vanceville Congregational Christian Church.
Mrs. Stone is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Tommy Lee and Sandra Stone of Tifton; two daughters and one son-in-law, Faye Hickman of Tifton and Barbara and Wayne Driskell of Tifton; two sisters, Geneva Collins of Tifton and Mary Parish of Mystic; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Keith and Vickie Hickman, Brad Hickman, Braxton and Christy Driskell, Shane and Justine Stone, Zach and Sarah Stone, Hope and Wycliffe Vance, Ashly Stone and Brittany Anna Stone; as well as ten great grandchildren, Alex and Ben Hickman, Steven Connell, Jacob Stone, Nathan and Ali Stone, Tommy Ross, Wyc and Samuel Vance and Case Stone.
