Bertha Purvis Stinchcomb, 91, of Fitzgerald died Tuesday, November 9, 2010, at the Life Care Center.
Funeral services will be held 2 P.M., Friday, November 12 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery, Irwin County. Visitation will be held 7-9 Thursday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Stinchcomb was born June 18, 1919 in Irwin County to the late Tom and Minnie McLemore Brady. She moved back to Fitzgerald in 1973. Mrs. Stinchcomb lived in Clearwater, Fl for 15 years, where she worked for Universal Cigar Factory and was a former employee of White Swan Laundry in Fitzgerald. She was a member of Callie Garbutt Baptist Church and was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Mrs. Stinchcomb is survived by her husband: Curtis Stinchcomb of Fitzgerald; daughter: Patricia Dukes of Ashburn; son and daughter-in-law: Allen & Martha Sue Purvis of Fitzgerald; 7 grandchildren: Angie Biggers, Peggy Freeman, Leslie Purvis, April Purvis, Tonya White, B.J. Purvis and Carl Purvis; 14 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; 8 stepchildren; sisters: Pauline (Paul) Buras of Fitzgerald, Evelyn Hutto of Douglas and Christine Smith of Acworth and several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband: Less Purvis, a son, Glendal Purvis, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
