Dorothy V. Smith, 90, formerly of Riverside, died Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at Hebert Nursing Home. She was the widow of Thomas J. Smith.
Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Dorothy (Bowler) Pollard. She lived in East Providence before moving to her daughter, Doreen's, home in Harmony. She later moved to Hebert's Nursing Home, in Smithfield. She had worked at Benny's in East Providence for many years.
She enjoyed all the activities at Hebert's. She loved when they had music and having her hair done. She dressed up every day with her makeup and scarfs. The staff at Hebert's were wonderful to her. She will be sadly missed.
She is survived by her daughters Doreen Pierce and her husband, Bob; Marcia McManis and her husband, Michael; Barbara Lovett and her husband Pat; a son, Robert Smith and his wife, Karen; eleven grandchildren: Michelle Cogburn and her husband, Sherman; Deborah Garneau and her husband, Steven; Robert Pierce and his wife, Dina; Erin McManis, Kristen Ricker and her husband, Tim; Sara Mendenhall and her husband, Shane; Alison DiSano and her husband, Tim; Rory Smith; Meridith Smith, Karlene Dratch and her husband, Andy; PJ Lovett and his wife, Ann and eleven great grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Thomas Smith, Jr. and sister of the late Frank Pollard.
Funeral Friday at 10:00am from the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville. Burial in RI Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Hebert Nursing Home, Patient Activity Fund, 180 Log Road, Smithfield, RI 02917
