Obituary

Franklin J. Pina, 70, of New Bedford died November 8, 2010 at Sacred Heart Home.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Joseph "Deda" and Louise (Ramos) Pina, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.
He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
Mr. Pina was formerly employed by Com Electric for 20 years until his retirement.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Mr. Pina enjoyed playing basketball and boxing in his youth, jazz music, playing the flute and sports cars.
Survivors include his former wife, Mary Espinola of New Bedford; 3 daughters, Terry L. Pina, Gerry L. Pina and Linda M. Almeida, all of New Bedford; a sister, Pauline Garcelon of New Bedford; 2 grandchildren, Tyree A. Almeida and Jeffrey S. Lopes, both of New Bedford; 5 great-grandchildren, Tyree, Jr., Destin, Emma, Akai and Kamren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford Friday, November 12th at 8 AM. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9 AM. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Thursday, November 11th from 4-8 PM.
