ARLENE E. (WALLACE) BOWER, 96, of Gorham, Maine, formerly of Hingham and Duxbury passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Gorham House Nursing Center on Wednesday, Nov. 3rd, 2010.
Beloved wife of the late Edward I. Bower. Loving mother of Edward I., Jr. and his wife Nancy of Parsonsfield, ME. Devoted Grandmother of Laura Bower-Haley and her husband Dell of Arlington, TX and Edward I., III and his wife Jennifer of Dedham. Great Grandmother of Annabelle, Parker and Alexis. Sister of the late William and Mildred Wallace and Madeline Murphy. Also survived by many nieces and nephews and Godmother to her very special goddaughter.
Arlene worked for sixty years as a realtor for five different companies specializing in properties south of Boston. She won numerous sales awards with each company. Arlene was also very active in her community, the Vestry of The Church of St. John the Evangelist in Hingham, Daughters of the American Revolution, Eastern Star, Red Cross, Friends of South Shore Hospital and the building committee of St. Luke’s Church in Scituate. For many years she enjoyed being a season ticket holder to the New England Patriots and went to games every Sunday with her husband and then her grandson. She was also an avid bridge player. Arlene will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
A Funeral Service will be conducted on Saturday, Nov. 13th at 11 AM at The Church of St. John the Evangelist, 172 Main St., Hingham, MA 02043.
Friends may visit at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St., Hingham on Friday from 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to The Church of St. John the Evangelist.
Interment will be in the Hingham Centre Cemetery.
