Elsie (King) Magill, formerly of Worcester and Shrewsbury, passed away peacefully at the Charlene Manor Extended Care Facility in Greenfield on Sunday, November 7, 2010.
Her husband of 42 years, Robert E. Magill, died in 1988. She leaves a son, Thomas K. Magill and his wife, Joan (Torgersen), of Boynton Beach, FL; three daughters, Judith E. Bok and her husband, David, of Boca Raton, FL, Marilyn S. Blanchard and her husband, Peter, of Shrewsbury, and Sandra L. Magill of Greenfield; 5 grandchildren, including Rebecca (Blanchard) Lauzon and her husband, Jason, of Auburn; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was born in Worcester, the daughter of James H. "Bert" and Elsie (Benn) King. She was predeceased by her brother, James H. "Bud" King, Jr., and her sister, Evelyn L. Willoughby.
She graduated from the Commerce High School in 1940. She was formerly employed by the Paul Revere Insurance Company before retirement. She was a 50-year member and Past Matron of the former Clement Chapter, #190, O.E.S., Past Deputy Grand Marshal of the Grand Chapter of Massachusetts, O.E.S., Past Mother Advisor of Worcester Assembly #9, Order of Rainbow for Girls, a member of Ahlem Temple #84, Daughters of the Nile, Past President of the Worcester County Nile Club, a member of the Worcester Police Wives Association, a former member of the Worcester Historical Society, a member of Stella Chapter #3, O.E.S., and a former volunteer at Memorial Hospital.
A calling hour will be held at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, Worcester, from 12 - 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 13, followed by a prayer service at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton.
