WAREHAM... Michael J. Golden, 64, of Fall River passed away on Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at Forestview Nursing Home in Wareham surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Janice (Shaw) Golden for 39 years. Michael was born in Fall River the son of the late John & Catherine (Malone) Golden. He was a supervisor at Popper Precision Instruments in Lincoln, Rhode Island. Michael enjoyed spending time with his family. He especially enjoyed spending Sundays with his sons watching football all day long from the time they were young. Michael and his siblings owned greyhounds many years ago and shared his love for dog racing with them. He loved playing golf with his brother-in-law and friend Jack Shaw and his best buddy the late John Willette. Survivors besides his wife are his two loving sons: Craig and Glen Golden, who were devoted to their father and cared for him throughout his long illness, Glen’s fiancé Sheena Melanson who was very special in Mike’s life and helped tremendously with his care. He leaves two brothers: John F. Golden III and his wife Roberta of Somerset, Donald Golden and his wife Judy from Minnesota: two sisters: Kathryn Golden of Bridgewater and Patricia Golden and her husband Paul Martin of Swansea and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be sadly missed by his sister-in-law Karen Pietrzyk and brother-in-law Jack Shaw and his wife Lois of Taunton.

Michael’s wife and sons would like to express their sincere gratitude to Michael’s sister Patricia who not only unselfishly donated her kidney to her brother nearly 17 years ago and gave him back his life, but has been a huge part of his care over the past few years and for that they will be eternally grateful.

The family would like to acknowledge and sincerely thank the wonderful staff at the Forestview Nursing home, Unit 4, in Wareham who provided such great care for their loved one. They would also like to thank the staff of the Family Service Adult Daycare on Purchase St. Fall River for the wonderful care he received there.

According to Michael’s wishes, he will be cremated. A memorial mass to which relatives and friends are invited will be held on Saturday, November 6 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church on Thomas St. Fall River.
