David Bryant Robertson, 59, of 227 Melrose Drive, died Friday, November 5, 2010, at Danville Regional Medical Center after a decline in health for the past two years. Born July 25, 1951, in Danville, VA, he was the son of David Hodges “Jack” Robertson and Sylvia Rhodes Robertson who survives him. Also surviving is his wife Carolyn Donahue Robertson of the residence.
David lived all of his life in Danville and was business manager for Taylor Rental Center for 36 years. He was an avid golfer and a former member of Tuscarora Golf Club. He enjoyed his motorcycle trips out west and camping, and especially enjoyed being with his family, friends and grandchildren. He was also very fond of his pets. He was a former member of Keen Street Baptist Church and also attended Trinity United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents and wife, he is survived by two sisters, Genie Robertson Owen of Blairs, VA and Angela Sue Robertson of Myrtle Beach, SC; two step daughters, Lisa Flynn of Virginia Beach, VA and Amy Woolard of Williamsburg, VA and a number of grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Scott D. Robertson.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 8, 2010, at Trinity United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles Wickham officiating. The family will receive friends at the church Monday one hour prior to the service and at other times will be at the home of his sister Genie Robertson Owen, 2006 Dale Drive, Blairs, VA. Interment will be private.
