Obituary

TAUNTON – Silvina E. (Tavares) Rose, wife of George M. Rose, died at Morton Hospital & Medical Center on November 5, 2010.
She was 84.
Born in Taunton, she was the daughter of the late Joseph S. and Silvina (Silva) Tavares.
Raised and educated in Taunton, she was a 1944 graduate of Taunton High School.
Mrs. Rose was employed by the Commonwealth of Mass Division of Employment Security for over twenty-six years, retiring as principle clerk at the age sixty-one.
A communicant of St. Mary’s Church, she enjoyed playing cards, especially Forty-five, and loved attending yard sales.
She also enjoyed traveling, and was especially fond of the Plymouth area.
Most precious to her, was the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Besides her husband of Taunton, she leaves a son, Thomas G. Rose and his wife Mary Lou of Dighton; a daughter, Lorna M. Butler and her husband Michael J. of Lakeville; a brother, Manuel S. Travers of New Bedford; a sister, Louise S. Pereira of Taunton; four grandchildren, Michael C. Butler and Amanda L., Matthew T. and Bryan D. Rose; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also the sister of the late Joseph Tavares, Anthony, John, William and Charles Travers, and Mary Lima.
Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway on Tuesday, Nov. 9th at 8 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Mary’s Church at 9 a.m.
Burial will be at St. James Cemetery, East Taunton.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Monday, Nov. 8th from 4 to 7 p.m.
