Obituary

Mr. Jay Alan Moore, a resident of Wakefield and beloved husband of Roberta E. (Hale) Moore, whom he married on January 30, 1957, died at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital in Melrose on Friday morning, November 5, 2010. He was 79 years old.
Born in Boston, Massachusetts, on May 19, 1931, Mr. Moore was the beloved son of the late Charles L. and Iris (Brown) Moore.
Mr. Moore was a US Navy veteran, enlisting in the military on June 18, 1948 and serving on board the USNTC in the Great Lakes, Illinois. Jay received his honorable discharge from the Navy and entered the Coast Guard on March 22, 1950. While serving in the Coast Guard, Mr. Moore worked as a Seaman, Fireman and Boiler Tech. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal for his long and outstanding service. He received his final honorable discharge from Staten Island, New York on July 25, 1960 and held the rank of BT2.
In civilian life, Mr. Moore worked as a Production Manager for Hopwood-Globe Metal Refinishing Company. He loved to play on his computer at home and also enjoyed watching old movies. He also had a special love for his dog Laddie. Above all, Mr. Moore was a very devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Besides his beloved wife of more than 53 years, Roberta, he will be sorely missed by his loving children; Laura and her husband Carlton Rousseau of Union, New Hampshire, Thomas and his wife Holly Moore of Revere, Scott Moore of Windham, New Hampshire, Michelle and her husband Walter Glassett of Lynn and Sandra and her husband Scott Raimo of Peabody, grandchildren; Elizabeth (Rousseau) Kester, Thomas and Jeffrey Moore, Cassandra Rousseau, Jennifer Moore, Vincent LoBuono, Jaydn Glassett, Joshua Raimo, Nicholas Moore, Robert Raimo and Zackary Glassett, great-grandchildren; Drake and Darien Kester, Madisen Rousseau and Jordan Lawton and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral service was celebrated in the Glendale United Methodist Church, 392 Ferry Street, Everett, Wednesday, November 10, 2010, at 11 AM. Many relatives and friends respectfully attended. Visiting hours were held in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford, Tuesday, November 9, 2010, from 6 to 8 PM. Interment was in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, W. Peabody.
