Obituary

Lawton Wesley Music, 79, of Fernandina Beach, FL passed peacefully away surrounded by his family members on Thursday morning, November 4, 2010 at Community Hospice of Northeast Florida Morris Center. He was born August 19, 1931 in Jeff Davis County, Georgia.
He was predeacesed by his parents, Lawton Estell Music and Ollie Lee Holton Music; two twin sisters, Bonnie and Billi Music; his daughter, Rhonda Music Kerns; his brothers, Estell Music, Milton Music, and his sister Bobbi McClane. He leaves behind his loving wife of over 61 years, Lola McGovern Music; his sons, Larry (Rose) Music and Steve (Kay) Music; son in law, Jim (Vilka) Kerns; his grandchildren, Sean (Catherine) Music, Shannon (Robb) Back, Yancey (Sarah) Music, Justin (Sarah) Kerns, Cody Music, and Brandon Kerns; a great granddaughter, Emma Ryan Back, two former daughter in laws, Cynthia Scott and Marilyn Caldwell; numerous nieces, nephews and several very close family friends.
He was a member of Lifeline Ministries. He helped build the First Assembly of God on 14th Street, the Church of God on 4th Street, and also the Christwalk Church which was formerly the Bailey Road Church of God.
He retired from Jefferson Smurfit after 42 years of service. He enjoyed being together with all his children and grandchildren. He was a fine family man. He enjoyed their second home, their cabin in Robbinsville, NC. For the past 30 years they had been part time residents of Robbinsville.
The family would prefer to not have any flowers. In lieu of flowers, PLEASE make a donation to the Community Hospice of Northeast Florida in Lawton’s name.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 7, at First Assembly of God, 302 14th Street in Fernandina Beach with Reverends, Buddy Kalem, Charles Oswald and Jimmy Music officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service Sunday at the church. Interment will follow in Green Pine Cemetery. The family will also receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Saturday at Green Pine Funeral Home.
