Mr. Phillip L. Lindsay, Of Sudbury, age 63, on October, 24, 2010, by accident. Born and raised in Somerville, Phil was the son of the late Velma (McKone) and Ernest C. Lindsay.
After high school, in 1966, Phil joined the US Marines. He served during the Vietnam War, and later he transferred to the reserves and was discharged in 1972. After graduating from Western New England College in Springfield, Phil started his career in law enforcement with the MDC police in 1972. He later joined the Massachusetts State Police and retired in 2008.
Phil loved the outdoors, especially fishing. He enjoyed billiards, playing cards and racquet ball. He traveled to Florida and New Hampshire and enjoyed Japanese and Italian food. He was especially proud of his military service and donated his time and money for all veteran causes.
Phil was the beloved husband of Patricia Kazuko Tyler-Lindsay. Father of James Dean Lindsay of Norwood, John William Lindsay of Denver, CO and the late Barbara Jean Ramos. Stepfather of Eve Tyler-Lindsay. Also survived by his sister, Janice Ferdinand of Woburn, and her daughters, Evie Harron, Susan Russo and Lisa Ardizzoni.
Visiting hours at the McLaughlin-Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., Woburn, Friday from 4 to 8 pm. A Memorial service will be conducted at the Presbyterian Church of Burlington, 335 Cambridge St., Burlington, Sat. at 1pm. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
His ashes will be inurned at Arlington National Cemetery, Virginia.
It has been requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made in Phil's name to Vietnam Veterans of America, 8719 Colesville Rd. #100, Silver Spring, MD 20910.
