Mr. Robert M. Poole, of Taunton and formerly of Berkley, died Wednesday, November 3 in Longmeadow of Taunton following a brief illness. He was born 79 years ago in Taunton, the son of the late Percy S. and Gladys S. (Staples) Poole. He was educated locally and had been a lifelong area resident. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed at Talbot’s Distribution Center in Lakeville for a number of years, had previously worked at Pride Workshop, and was also a volunteer security guard at the Silver City Galleria in Taunton. Robert enjoyed helping his niece, Dawn with her honey sales. He looked forward each year to assisting and attending his great niece, Traci’s birthday parties for her cat, Winston. Mr. Poole was well known as a paperboy in Berkley during his youth, and attended Bethany House in Taunton, where he had many friends. He was a Special Olympics participant. An animal lover, he participated in many fund-raising walks for animals, and was a regular contributor to the United Way. Robert also enjoyed playing his harmonica, playing bingo, vacations, taking pictures with his Polaroid camera, and watching cartoons and movies. He loved social activities, and was an avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. He especially enjoyed spending the holidays with his family.
He leaves: his twin sister, Bettina B. White of Berkley, 11 nieces and nephews, many great nieces and great nephews, his roommate, John Ferreira of Taunton, and a dear friend, Dianne Heist of East Taunton. Mr. Poole was also the brother of the late Stanley A. Poole of Berkley and the late Kenneth A. Poole of Taunton.
Visiting Hours will be held at The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, on Friday, November 5, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. A Funeral Service will follow the Visiting Hours, Friday, at 8:00 P.M.
