PEABODY- Charles W. “Chuck” Bergeron, Jr., 75, of Peabody, formerly of Salem, died Friday afternoon, December 12, 2003 at the Lahey Clinic in Peabody following a long illness.
Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Charles W. and Ruth S. (Arrington) Bergeron. Mr Bergeron was a resident of Salem until moving to Peabody 16 years ago.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a bus driver for many years at Travel Time in Peabody.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict era and attained the rank of Corporal.
Active in many veterans organizations, he was a member of the VFW, Post 1524, Amvets, Post 53, the DAV, Chapter 84, all of Salem, the Herman A. Spear Post, American Legion, Beverly, and the VFW, Post 1011, Peabody. He attended the First Baptist Church, Salem, and was a member of the Elks Lodge, 1409 of Peabody, and The Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge 218, Salem.
He is survived by three sons, Charles W. Bergeron, III of Peabody, Thomas L. and his wife Cheryl Bergeron of Lynn, David Bolles of Bridgton, Maine, three daughters, Judy A. Bergeron, Barbara A. Bergeron, Carole A. Bergeron, all of Peabody, eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren, one sister, Mary Frances Michaud of Salem, his former wife, Dorothy (Guzofski) Ronan of Peabody, a daughter-in-law, Mildred Bergeron of Salem and several nieces and nephews, including Charles and his wife Rosemary Michaud of Randolph. He was predeceased by one brother, Ralph Bergeron.
His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 17, 2003, at 11 am in the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours are Tuesday, 4 to 8 pm. Burial is in Harmony Grove Cemetery, Salem.
