Obituary

South Lawrence, MA – Barbara L. (McCabe) Butler, 88, died Monday at Mary Immaculate Nursing and Restorative Care in Lawrence.
Born in Lawrence, Barbara was a longtime resident of Colonial Heights.
She was the daughter of Edward and Bernice (McDonough) McCabe and a 1940 graduate of Lawrence High School. Following High School Barbara graduated from Saint John’s School of Nursing.
For 20 years Barbara was a Registered Nurse in private nursing duty, and for 18 years at I.T.T. as an industrial nurse until her retirement in 1982.
Barbara was a longtime member of the Lawrence Garden Club, and Saint John’s Nurses Alumnae. She was very talented in Arts and Crafts, and spent many happy winters with her late husband Thomas in Boynton Beach, Florida.The widow of Thomas Butler, Barbara is survived by a sister Mary Phyllis Swan of Methuen, a sister-in-law Teresa McCabe of Kingston, NH, and many nieces and nephews.
Barbara was predeceased by her brothers Edward McCabe, Jr. and John and Thomas McCabe.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday morning at 11 o’clock in Saint Patrick’s Church in South Lawrence with burial to follow in the Elmwood Cemetery of Methuen.
Friends may call on Friday morning from 9:00 A.M.-10:30 A.M. at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen.
