Mrs. Lillie Mae Duncan, age 86, of 1052 High Way 89 West, Westfield, NC, was called home at Stokes-Reynolds Hospital in Danbury, NC on Saturday, October 30, 2010. She was born on January 18, 1924 to the late France and Ada Ziglar Hughes in Stokes County she was long time member of Simmons Chapel Church and was faithful as long as health permitted.Mrs. Duncan worked at RJR Tobacco, Renfro Hosiery Company and Stokes Reynolds Hospital and was a member of Simmons Chapel Baptist Church where she served as an Assistant Clerk and at the time she passes she served as the Treasurer of the Flower and Sick Fund.She was proceeded in death by her husband, Mr. William S. Duncan; two sons, Billy J Hughes, McDonald Hughes; and one brother, Otis C. Hughes; four sisters, Lena Simmons, Jessie Connor, Zeddie Reeves, Gracie France.Those who cherish her memory are three sons, Joe L. Hughes of Winston-Salem, Mickey W. Duncan of Pineville, S.C., Melvin E. Duncan and Dawn L. Hughes of Mount Airy; five grandchildren, Quenton Duncan, Mickey Duncan Jr. Ryan Hughes, Khadejah Hughes, Mercede Hughes; two great-grandchildren, Zaynah Duncan and Jaylen Duncan; ex-daughter-in-law and devoted friend, Cecilia Connor, two nieces, Ertene Simmons, Iris Smith, special niece and caregiver, Barbara Smith, five sisters-in-laws; one brother-in-law, Myrtle Simmons, Stacie (Grady France), Emily Duncan, Nellie Ceasar, Tilda Ziglar.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at Simmons Chapel at 2:00 P.M with the Elder Carl Morgan officiating with interment to follow in the church cemetery where she will lie-in-state one hour prior to the service.The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 2, 2010 from 7:00-8:00 PM at Cox-Needham Funeral Home at other times at Iris and Carl Smith, 5174 Hwy 89 West, Westfield, NC 27053.The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Iris Smith, Ertene Simmons, Dawn Hughes and Barbara Smith.Cox-Needham Funeral Home of Pilot Mountain (www.coxneedham.com, www.coxneedham/facebook) is assisting the Duncan family.
