Charles J. Govoni, of Kingston, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 27th at the age of 96, with his wife and family by his side.
Charles was predeceased by his parents, Antonio & Amalia Govoni, formerly of Bologna, Italy, his sister, Mary (Govoni) Holden and brothers, Alexander Gavoni and Nando Govoni.
Charles was born in Plymouth on August 21, 1914. He lived in Kingston most of his years.
Charles was a graduate of Plymouth High School. He attended the Brockton School of Accounting. He was the owner of the Govoni-Detrani Foundation Construction Co.
He is survived by his wife, of 48 years, Clara (Burder) Govoni, his niece, Joan (Gavoni) Schandler-Minelli and her husband Allan J. Minelli and step-children, Michael Leonardi, Vivian Perkins, Doreen Pond and the late Diane Quigley. He also leaves several grandchildren.
A calling hour will be held at the Richard Davis Funeral Home, 373 Court St., Plymouth on Tuesday, November 2nd from 8:45-9:45 am immediately followed by a Memorial Mass at St. Mary’s Church, Court St., N. Plymouth at 10 o’clock. There will be a private family graveside service at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Plymouth.
