Mrs. Lorene A. Rogers, 94, of Ocilla, Georgia died Thursday, October 28, 2010 at Heritage Care in Ocilla.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, October 31 at the Ocilla Baptist Church with Rev. Rob Dowdle officiating. Ted Lavender will give the eulogy. Interment will follow in the Ocilla Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church.
Mrs. Rogers was born June 19, 1916 in Cairo, Georgia to the late David C. and Bessie Parramore Alligood. She was a graduate of Fitzgerald High School. Following the death of her first husband, Mrs. Rogers owned and operated McCranie’s Frozen Foods. She was a homemaker and a resident of Ocilla most of her life. Mrs. Rogers enjoyed playing golf and bridge and was a former member of the garden club. Mrs. Rogers was an active member of the Ocilla Baptist Church and the Martha Sunday School Class.
Mrs. Rogers is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law: Clauye C. & Hazel McCranie of Ocilla and W. David & Julie McCranie of Fitzgerald 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; sister: Joyce Dale Roy of Danville, KY as well as several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Samuel Clauye McCranie and Murphey Rogers and brothers, D.R. and Earl Alligood.
