Lizzie Mae Richey, 93, of Ben Hill County died Thursday, October 28, 2010 at Dorminy Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, October 30, 2010 at Abba Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Richey and Rev. Howard Kitchens officiating. Interment will follow in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7-9, Friday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Richey was born January 19, 1917 in Irwin County to the late Robert Lee and Precious Elizabeth Newsome Branam. She lived in Ben Hill County most of her life and was a former resident of Warner Robins. Mrs. Richey was a former employee of Woolworth’s in Warner Robins and McClelland’s 5 & 10 in Fitzgerald. She taught Sunday school class at Second Baptist Church in Warner Robins and Salem Baptist Church in Ben Hill County for almost fifty years. Mrs. Richey was a member of Abba Baptist Church.
She is survived by her sons: Rev. Bobby Richey of Ben Hill County and Tommy Richey of Hawkinsville; 10 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 16 great great grandchildren; brothers: D.C. Branam of Palataka, FL, Edwin Branam of Cordele and Reuben Branam of Fitzgerald; sister: Delia Williamson of Irwin County as well as many nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, Mrs. Richey was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Richey, a son, Eddie Richey, 4 brothers, 1 sister and 3 infant siblings.
