Cornelius F. "Neil" "Connie" Daly, a 41 year resident of Melrose and also West Kennebunk, Maine, died on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston following an extended illness. He was 70 years old.
Neil was born in Boston on June 20, 1940 to the late Cornelius and Anna M. (Griffin) Daly. He grew up in Charlestown where he attended St. Francis De Sales Parochial School and graduated from Boston Trade High School in Boston in 1958. He enlisted into the United States Navy on April 15, 1959 and served his country during the Vietnam Conflict. He was discharged on February 24, 1961 with the rank of FN (E-3). Neil worked as a union plumber for the Boston Housing Authority for more than 27 years and was a 43 year member of the Plumbers Union Local # 12. He enjoyed playing golf and cribbage.
Neil is the beloved husband of 45 years to Regina A. "Sue" (Williams) Daly. He is the devoted father of Neil J. Daly and his wife Paula B. of Melrose. He is the loving Gramps to Patrick and Michael Daly. He is the beloved brother of John Daly and his wife Barbara of Wayland, Gerald Daly and his wife Terri of Roslindale and the late Daniel Daly and his surviving wife Ruth of Plymouth. Also his beloved late dog Gypsie Lulu and his many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Neil's Funeral on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at 9 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 1159 Main St. Melrose followed by his Funeral Mass in The Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St. Wakefield at 10 a.m. Interment Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose. Visiting hours will be on Friday, October 29, 2010 from 4 to 8 p.m.
