Anne T. Marklis, 79, of Myrtle Beach, SC, died Monday October 25, 2010 at her home following a brave battle with cancer. Mrs. Marklis was born in Dorchester, MA on July 8, 1931, daughter of the late John J. and Bridget (Healey) Kearns. She was a 1949 graduate of Archbishop Cushing High School in S. Boston, MA. She was employed as an accounts payable manager for Sanel Auto Parts in Manchester and Concord, retiring in 1994. She also worked for several years at Derry Restaurant and Pizza. Mrs. Marklis moved to Myrtle Beach six years ago, formerly living in Derry, NH for 30 years, and previously Manchester. She was a former communicant of St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Derry. In addition to making ceramics, she enjoyed watching HG TV.
She is survived by her husband, John E. Marklis of Myrtle Beach, two sons, Stephen Koerner and his wife, Carole of Murells Inlet, SC, David Koerner and his wife Lorraine of Dalton, NH and Surfside Beach, SC, one daughter, Donna Miville and her husband, Michael of Bedford, NH, one step-daughter, Shirlee Murgatroy and her husband Daniel of Unity, NH, eight grandchildren, Yvonne, Shawn and Melissa Koerner, Kristina Duquette, Christie and Brandon Miville, Becky and Jennifer Murgatroy, five great-grandchildren, Tasia Miville, Tyler Koerner, Autumn Duquette, Gage and Isiah Murgatroy, three brothers, John Kearns of N. Abington, MA, William Kearns and Patrick Kearns both of Quincy, MA, one sister, Mary Fay of Canton, MA, also many nieces and nephews.
Following cremation, calling hours were from 8 - 10:00am on Friday October 29th in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday at 11:00am in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 26 Crystal Ave., Derry. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
