Worcester - Harvey C. Hjelm, 93, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010, at home. His wife of 60 years, Marjory (Cooper) Hjelm, died in 2001. He leaves a son, Jon Hjelm and his wife Adrienne, of Farmingdale, NY; a daughter, Susan Defeudis and her husband Peter of Worcester; seven grandchildren: Ruben, Anne, Michael, Lynne, Veronica, Eric, and Clark; and three great-grandchildren.
He was born in Worcester, son of Elisabeth (Bagge) and Carl W. Hjelm. Harvey was a graduate of North High School. He was a master cabinet maker and was the proprietor of Harvey's Woodcraft and Architectural Woodworking, Inc. He loved radio controlled model airplanes and was a member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics and the Central Massachusetts R/C Modelers club. Harvey also had a lifelong passion for flying and motorcycles, and maintained both his private pilot's license and motorcycle license until his passing. He actively flew and rode into his early 90s.
Services will be held at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St., Wed., Oct 27; visitation at 1:00 p.m.; memorial service at 1:30 p.m.
