Obituary

Joseph Patrick Brisbois Sr., age 80 of Somerville died peacefully on Sunday, surrounded by his loving family in Wilmington Health Care, Wilmington. He was the beloved husband of Joanne M. (Lepore) Brisbois with whom he shared more than 52 years of marriage. Mr. Brisbois was born in Somerville, the son of the late Ernest A. and Mary J. (O'Neil) Brisbois. He served in the Army during the Korean War and rose to the rank of Corporal. During his distinguished military service he served with the 25th Infantry and was the proud recipient of the Combat Infantry man Badge, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, United Nations Service Medal, Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation, all of which he was honored to receive. Joe was a lifelong resident of Somerville and a graduate of Somerville High School, Class of 1948.
He worked hard and tirelessly as a butcher in the Star Market Cambridge store for over 35 years, he also worked as a printer at the former Globe Ticket and Label Company in Woburn for more than 43 years.
Joe loved spending time at home with his wife and family. He was a kind, funny man who loved his grandchildren dearly. He was also very fond of his countless nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews. When a baby was near, Joe was the first to hold them and reluctant to give them back! He will be remembered as a peaceful man who touched the hearts of all who knew him. In addition to his loving wife Joanne, he is survived by a daughter: Lisa Bruning and her husband Harry of Medford, two sons: Joseph P. Brisbois Jr. and his wife Karen and her son Chris Rodgers of Wilmington, Christopher Brisbois and his wife Karen of FL. Brother of Mary Anderson and the late James and Ernest Brisbois Jr. Grandchildren, Craig, Jillian & Rachel Bruning, Brian & Michaela Brisbois; Sister in law Anita Arria her husband Tom Arria Sr. of Malden, and the late Louise Randall and her husband Chaney. Funeral from the Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 306 Main Street MEDFORD, Thursday at 9 AM. Funeral Mass in St. Catherine of Genoa Church, 179 Summer Street, Somerville, at 10:00 am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment will follow in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Visiting Hours Wednesday 4 - 8 PM.
