Frederick J. Boehner, Jr., 89, of Boston, October 22 at the VA Hospice in Brockton. Devoted son of Frederick J., Sr. and Elsie (Wilfert) Boehner, brother to Wilfert (Woody) and Russell Boehner. Uncle of Wilfert Norman Boehner Jr. West Melbourne, FL. A lifelong resident of Jamaica Plain, Fred was a World War II veteran serving in the Pacific and continuing in the Army Reserve until 1974. A graduate of Boston Trade School (’42), Fred worked in the family business, Boehner’s Tavern, and as an elevator operator at the Suffolk County Courthouse. After retiring, Fred volunteered daily at the Greater Boston Food Bank for many years. He loved visiting neighbors and bringing calendars and candy to his many caregivers at the VA in Jamaica Plain, the Shattuck, Tufts Medical Center, and the Visiting Nurses (VNA) who cared for him in his final months. He is survived by his brother Woody, a nephew in Florida and the many friends whose lives he touched. Interment will be at the National Cemetery in Bourne at a later date.
