Salem: Nancy S. (Newell) Raymond, age 71 of Salem, died Friday, October 22, 2010, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was the devoted wife of Donald J. Raymond with whom she shared 52 years of marriage.
Born in Newellton, and raised in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of the late Austin D. and Mildred L. (Goodwin) Newell. Nancy came to Salem following her marriage to Don in 1958. She was a loving wife and mother and devoted her life to creating a home for her family. Nancy loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved socializing with her many friends at the Century House in Peabody. She was a voracious reader who also loved cooking, housekeeping while maintaining a rigorous physical fitness routine. She will be missed by many.
In addition to her husband Don, she is survived by 3 sons, Garry P. Raymond and Linda J. Raymond both of Salem, Mark D. Raymond and his wife Linda M. of Salem, Scott R. Raymond of Salem, 2 daughters, Pamela M. Scott and her husband Wayne K. of Worcester, Suzanne L. Raymond of Salem, 9 grandchildren, Amy L. Keyes, John R. Keyes, Jr. & Laura A, Keyes, Shayne R. & Ashley A. Scott, Jillian M. & Rebecca M. Raymond, and Cody J. & Joshua M. Raymond. She is also survived by 3 sisters, Marjorie Melanson of Moncton, NB, Marcia Hurlburt and Deborah Newell both of Yarmouth, NS, in addition to 6 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St.[Rt. 114 / 1-A] Salem on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at 8 am to be followed by her funeral mass in Ste. Anne Church, Jefferson Ave., Salem at 9 a.m. Visiting hours: Tuesday 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
