WEBSTER - Alexandra C. (Kaszkiel) Brzostek, 102, of Upland Avenue, died Thursday, October 21, 2010, in Webster Manor. Her husband of 71 years, Alexander S. Brzostek, died in 2000.
She leaves 3 children, Irene M. Sheehan, with whom she lived, Ralph A. Brzostek and his wife Kathy of Webster, and Patricia A. Bucher and her husband Thomas of Gardnerville, NV; 6 grandchildren, Kevin P. Sheehan, Denis A. Sheehan, Ellen M. Goldberg, Coleen B. Cremo, Eric A. Brzostek and Andrea Ferguson; 17 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 2 grandchildren, Catherine Lacey and Jennifer Brzostek, by 3 sisters and 5 brothers, and by her son-in-law Denis K. Sheehan.
She was born in Suwalki, Poland, one of the nine children of Konstanty and Marianna Kaszkiel. She moved to Webster in 1934.
Mrs. Brzostek was a weaver at Cluett-Peabody Mills in North Grosvenordale, CT; she then was a dresser at B & W Footwear Company before retiring in 1977.
She was a communicant and the oldest member of Saint Joseph Basilica. She belonged to its Holy Rosary Sodality, Sacred Heart Society and Saint Anne Society.
She was an expert bread maker and her babki breads were her specialty. She enjoyed cooking and maintained her annual garden until she was 100. She also crocheted afghans.
The funeral will be held Tuesday, October 26, from the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School Street, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Saint Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb Street. Burial will be in St. Joseph Garden of Peace. Calling hours are from 3:00 to 5:00 and from 7:00 to 9:00 PM Monday, October 25, in the funeral home.
