TEWKSBURY: John E. Lynch, age 71, died unexpectedly Monday, December 8, 2003 at his home.
He was the husband of Ethel L. (Hill) Lynch to whom he was married for 37 years.
Born in Cincinnati, Ohio of June 29, 1932, he was the son of the late William B. and Margaret (Brown) Lynch.
Mr. Lynch was raised and educated in Somerville, Mass. He graduated from Somerville High School in 1951.
Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He served during the Korean War with the Strategic Air Command 70th Bomb Squadron. Mr. Lynch was awarded several decorations including the National defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
He resided in Tewksbury for the past 37 years. He previously lived in Burlington.
Mr. Lynch was an active member of the Tewksbury United Methodist Church, where he served as financial secretary for over 20 years. In addition, Mr. Lynch was a member church choir and the Tewksbury Interfaith Choir.
Prior to his retirement in 1994, he was employed as an electronic technician by the Raytheon Company of Lowell, where he worked for 37 years.
He loved music, playing his keyboard and bowling.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 1 son; Thomas D. Lynch of Tewksbury; 1 sister; Margaret Maxwell and her husband Loring of Bellingham; his aunt; Helen Mason of Cincinnati, OH; 2 cousins; Jean Christman of Illinois and Tom McCormack of Madison, Wisconsin.
Calling hours Friday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. His funeral will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. from the funeral home. Funeral services Saturday at 10 a.m. at the United Methodist Church, cor. Main (Rte. 38) and South St., Tewksbury. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Tewksbury United Methodist Church, 2335 Main St., Tewksbury, MA 01876 would be appreciated.
