Obituary

Laconia-----James Daniel Linney, 84, of 79 Oak Street died at the Pleasant View Center, Genesis Healthcare, Concord, on Wednesday, October 20, 2010.
Jim was born May 13, 1926 in Dorchester, Mass., the son of Frank J. & Mary E. (Coleman) Linney. He graduated from Hyde Park High School in Boston, Mass. Jim moved to Laconia from Boston, Mass., upon his retirement in Oct. 1987 from the U.S. Geological Survey in Boston.
Jim served in the US Navy during WWII. Jim was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, post #3169 and the NH Veterans Association.
Jim enjoyed tracing the genealogy of his family, spending time with family and friends, breakfast with his buddies, being outdoors and making his famous peanut butter pies (to the delight of the small children in his life!). Jim loved helping people and making people laugh! He was a generous, loveable man with a huge spirit and a wonderful, funny sense of humor who will be deeply and forever missed.
Jim is survived by his brother-in-law and friend, J. Paul Shenk of Gilford. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews including Patricia Williams and husband Dave of Alton, NH, Richard Harris of Holderness, NH and Sarasota, FL, Fred Harris and wife Sandy of Kansas City, MO, Ellen Lemire of Eliot, ME, and Diane Owen and husband Paul of Sarasota, FL. Also surviving are great nieces and nephews, Margo Deselin, David Farley, Dana Farley, Rick Hall, Scott Hall, Noah Lemire, Zachary Lemire, Brandon Lemire, and Dawn Harris Rainey and their families. He was pre-deceased by his parents, two brothers, Frank Linney and Fred Linney, two sisters, Edith Linney, and Vera Shenk, and his great nephew, Jeff Harris.
Jim’s family would like to thank the staff at Pleasant View and Health South both in Concord, NH for their skilled and loving care of Jim, and to the doctors and nurses at Concord Hospital for their skills and spirits in caring for Jim. Thank you, too, to the nurses and doctors at LRGH in Laconia.
Private family calling hours will be held.
A Funeral Service will be held at the Laconia Congregational Church, 69 Pleasant Street & Veterans Square in Laconia, NH on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at 10:00AM.
Burial will be held later that day at the NH Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH at 1:00PM.
