WEBSTER - Frances B.(Szwach) Stawasz, 88, formerly of Golden Heights, died Thursday, October 21, 2010 in Webster Manor. Her husband of 56 years, Edwin R. Stawasz, Sr., died in 1998.
She leaves a son, Edwin R. Stawasz, Jr. and his wife Dottie of Tolland, CT; a daughter, Christine A. Saucier of Rochester, NH; 2 granddaughters, Tanya Meda and Tara Stawasz; 3 great grandchildren, Dylan, Emerson and Beckett; a brother, Rev. Joseph F. Szwach, pastor of Saint Andrew Bobola Church, Dudley; a sister, Carolyn “Carrie” Krasinski of Putnam, CT; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Mary Szwach, Rose Kralik and Julia Penkala.
She was born in Webster, a daughter of Frank and Katherine (Krzystyniak) Szwach and lived in Webster and Dudley all her life.
Mrs. Stawasz was a stitcher at Stevens Linen Associates in Dudley for many years. She then was housekeeper at the former Ramada Inn in Auburn before retiring in 1997. She also worked part-time in the shoe department at Ames in Dudley.
She was a member of St. Andrew Bobola Church. She was an avid walker, walking several miles every day for years and shorter distances in recent years. She loved cats and enjoyed flower gardening.
The funeral will be held Monday, October 25, from the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School St., with a Mass at 11:00 AM in St. Andrew Bobola Church, 54 West Main St., Dudley. Her brother will be the principal concelebrant. Burial will be in St. Joseph Garden of Peace. A calling period will be from 9:00 to 10:30 AM Monday in the funeral home.
