Elizabeth V.(Mahoney) Donahue, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, died on Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at Hannah Duston Health Care in Haverhill after a long illness. She was 93 years old.
Elizabeth was born in Boston and grew up in Charlestown where she attended Boston Public Schools. She was an active member of St. Francis De Sales Parish community for many years. She was involved with the Daughters of Isabella #1 where she was an officer and was a member of The Catholic Daughters of America. She was also a member of The Old Charlestown Schoolgirls Association.
Elizabeth is the beloved wife of the late Boston Police Officer Edward L. Donahue. She is the devoted mother of Mary Costa and her late husband Joseph "Jay" of Georgetown, Catherine Horgan and her husband Kevin of Bradford, Michael Donahue and his wife Shauna of Charlestown and Edward Donahue and his wife Janet of Charlestown. She is the loving grandmother of 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She is the beloved sister of the late Joseph Mahoney, Helen Hurley and Sr. Catherine Mary S.N.D.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Elizabeth's Funeral on Monday, October 25, 2010 at 9 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 a.m. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. Visiting hours will be on Sunday, October 24, 2010 from 3 to 7 p.m.
