Vigneau, Daniel P. of Marshfield Oct 20, at the age of 62. Beloved husband of Pamela L. (Crowell) Vigneau. Loving father of Evan Vigneau of Marshfield, Matthew Vigneau of Duxbury, Monique Vigneau of Duxbury and Robert Schneider of Boston. Brother of Maryellen Neville of Weymouth, Jacqueline Brenner of Randolph, Peter Vigneau of Carver and Francis Vigneau of Bath, ME. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Captain Dan passed away on Wednesday after a short illness. He grew up on the water at Crow Point in Hingham. In his youth Danny became an avid sailor. He graduated from Hingham High school class 1967, and graduated from Salem State College in 1971. During both his High school and College years Danny was a lead player on the schools Hockey teams. With his love of the sea still calling he became a professional yacht captain aboard a large sail boat navigating the coast of New England. As a natural boater and businessman he began to get involved in yacht brokerage and marina management. At a young age Danny was made Vice President and General Manager of the Marina Harbor Corporation where he served for over 30 years. Danny was active in the MA Marine Trades Association as a board member from 1981 until his passing and served as the president of the association from 1996 – 1998. He was a loyal member of the Green Harbor Yacht Club and served on the Town of Marshfield’s Waterways Committee. He was a supporter of the Green Harbor Tuna club and their programs for the Special Olympics and the Wounded Warriors.
Danny will be missed by so many beloved friends and family, his memory will be celebrated by all.
Funeral from the MacDonald Funeral Home 1755 Ocean St, Rte 139, Marshfield, Monday at 9 am followed by a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Careswell St Marshfield at 10:00 am.
Visiting hours Sunday from 3:00 to 7:00 PM.
Interment will be in the Couch Cemetery Marshfield.
