Olga Elizabeth (Sedlak) Martinuk, 84, died early Thursday morning Oct 21, 2010 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. She married her beloved in 1945, the late Raymond Martinuk with whom she shared 30 years of marriage.
Born in Middleton Feb 14, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Peter Joseph Martinuk and Elizabeth Taldakowsky. She was educated in the Middleton and Danvers school system before graduating from Holten High School in 1944.
She worked at A.C. Lawrence Leather in Peabody for a number of years after which she and her husband owned and operated George’s Variety in Peabody for 10 years. She lived in Peabody for 20 years before moving back to Middleton in 1965.
She was an avid bingo and scrabble player, loved listening to Polkas, active with the Middleton Council on Ageing and The Polish Club in Danvers. She especially loved having her family and friends around her.
She is survived by her 4 sons Michael and Peter Martinuk of Lynn, Raymond Martinuk of Derry, N.H., Thomas Martinuk and his wife Danielle of Middleton. She leaves behind 2 cousins Helen Rubin of Peabody and Joan Danielson of Hyde Park with whom she was close and her many friends. She had a special place in her heart for her 5 grandchildren Loren, Thomas, Jill, Sharon and especially TJ. Her greatest joy was when she got to see her first great grandchild Jessica who is just 10 days old. She is predeceased by her brothers Rudolph, Daniel, Joseph and sisters Mary Ribeck, Eva Berson and Anne Gonzales.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, October 25, 2010 at 11AM in Saint Agnes Church, 22 Boston St., Middleton. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Sunday from 3-6PM in C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square.
