Alzira (DosSantos Silva) Marquinhos, 76, of New Bedford died Thursday October 21, 2010 suddenly at St. Luke's Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Sao Jacinto, Aveiro, Portugal, she moved to the United States in 1975, first settling in Newark, New Jersey before moving to New Bedford in 1983.
Mrs. Marquinhos was formerly employed in various South End textile mills.
She enjoyed going to church and spend time with her family.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years, Natalino Marquinhos, her beloved children, Maria E. Marquinhos-Esteves, Gracinda S. Ouellette, Carlos J. Marquinhos-Braz, and Manuel J. Marquinhos, her beloved grandchildren, Carlos J. and Vera Marquinhos, whom she raised from infancy, Raquel and Tiago Esteves, Hannah and Gabrielle Ouellette, Haley, Adam, Jacob, and Mya Braz, Ricardo and Natalino Marquinhos, and Paula Teixeira, and her beloved great-grandchildren, Kate-lynn and Deija Marquinhos, Devin and Alexis Teixeira, and Vanessa Clermont.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Saturday at 9:30 AM at Igreja Evangelica das Naçoes, 129 Hathaway Blvd., New Bedford. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery.
