Catherine V. Boehl, 87, of Metamora passed away at 5:43am Tuesday Oct. 19th 2010 at her residence.
She was born on Dec 28, 1922 in Peoria the daughter of Joseph and Rose Alwan Farris. She married Oscar J. Boehl on July 5, 1947 in Peoria. He passed away on July 3, 2001. Two brothers Fred Farris and Peter Farris and two sisters Frieda Peters and Mary LaHood also preceded her in death.
Surviving are her seven children Janet (Joseph) Monari of Stone Lake, WI; Marilyn (Larry) Thompson of Germantown Hills, IL; Patricia Royer of Brimfield, IL; Nancy (Rick) Wood of Mundelein, IL; Thomas (Joy) Boehl of Washington, IL; James (Teresa) Boehl of Germantown Hills, IL; and Susan (Gary) Sweet of Washington, IL; nine grandchildren, one great grandson, six step grandchildren, as well as one sister Cecelia McCann of Peoria. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Catherine graduated from Manual High School. In her early years she worked for Caterpillar Tractor Company. She was then a homemaker and devoted wife and mother. She later worked for the Sisters of the Third Order of Saint Francis at the Motherhouse in Germantown Hills. She was a member of St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Church in rural Metamora.
She loved gardening, reading, baking bread for family and friends, story telling and spending time with her family. Her compassion and friendship touched many people and will be cherished forever.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10am Friday Oct 22nd at St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Church in rural Metamora with Fr. Neri Greskoviak officiating. Visitation will be from 5pm until 8pm Thursday Oct 21st at Mason Funeral Home in Metamora with recitation of the Rosary at 8pm. Burial will be at St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Cemetery.
