Obituary

NEW BEDFORD...Carl P. Rebello, surrounded by his family, peacefully entered into eternal rest on October 17, 2010.
Born in N. Dartmouth, MA, the husband of Rose M. (Cambra) Rebello, and Son of the late Joseph Rebello and the late Lena Furtado. Besides his loving wife of 52 years, Carl has two sons, Gordon Rebello and his wife Janice, of New Hampshire, Jeff Rebello and his fiancée Kimberly, of Dartmouth, a daughter, Melissa Pacheco and her husband Joseph, of Westport, four grandchildren, David Rebello, Robert Rebello, Julia Pacheco, and the late Katelyn Rose Pacheco.
Carl Rebello owned and operated Carl’s TV and Music in Dartmouth and later in Westport for over twenty years. Carl was inducted into the Massachusetts Country Music Awards Association Hall of fame in 2003 and produced a record with Don Stover and the White Oak Mountain Boys, as well as with Roger Williams. Carl also made multiple television appearances with an assortment of bands. Carl was a part of many bands playing with the Chuck Wagon Boys, Al White and the Sons of the Prairie, Cedar Mountain Boys, Country Cut ups, Don Stover’s White Oak Mountain Boys, Bill Hall and the Northwind Bluegrass Band and the Old Fiddlers Club of Rhode Island. An accomplished fiddle player, Carl traveled across the country and Canada entertaining many people. During 1983 Carl developed Rheumatoid Arthritis which deformed his hands, making him unable to continue his work on electronics; however he was still able to wrap his hands around his fiddle to produce music that would make the crowd cheer for more. Carl was famous for his rendition of the Orange Blossom Special, where he could make his violin sing like speeding train.
Carl was also a music instructor, teaching fiddle lessons for many years to a number of talented students. Carl, also wrote a number of songs including Rosie’s waltz.
Graveside service to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Wednesday October 20, 2010 at 11AM at Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport. Private services at the request of the family. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to Children’s Hospital Boston, Cardiology, Child Life, 300 Longwood Ave, Boston, MA 02115.
