Rose (Maloof) Maloof of Cambridge, formerly of Belmont, passed away on October 18, 2010. She was 100 years old.
Born in Boston in 1910, Rose was a long time active member of the Syrian Lebanese Women's Club of Greater Boston, on which she served as the Chair of the Scholarship Commmittee for many years. She was a devoted parishioner of Our Lady of the Annunciation Melkite Cathedral and, along with her late husband, James, was one of the earliest supporters of the establishment of St. Basil's Seminary in Methuen, MA. Rose was a Middle Eastern cook extraordinaire and her pastries were a sight to behold.
Rose was the dear and devoted wife of the late James S. Maloof. Loving mother of Jeanne Dawahare of KY and the late Marlene Saidnawey. Loving mother-in-law of A.F. Dawahare of KY and Leo Saidnaway of Belmont. Dear sister of Eleanore Ayoub of Milton and the late Najla Rahal, Ida Lyons, Celia Murray, L. Agnes Maloof and Gloria Fazio. Cherished grandmother, “Sittee” of 9 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Rose's Funeral Service was held Thursday October 21, 2010 at the Annunciation Melkite Cathedral, 7 VFW Parkway, West Roxbury. Contributions in Rose’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
Interment St. Joseph Cemetery in West Roxbury.
