Belmont------Larry Payne Bickford, 77, of 4 Valley Drive, died at his home surrounded by his loving family on October 15, 2010. Born in Laconia on September 24, 1933, he was the son of the late Ulmont W. and Yvonne R. (Nadeau) Bickford. After graduating from Laconia High School, Larry joined the Navy and was discharged in 1959.
Larry worked at several area businesses including Scott & Williams, Davidson Rubber and NH Ball Bearing. He retired at the age of 62, from his position as a custodian at Byse Insurance Agency. Larry enjoyed playing golf and bowling with friends. He was a member of the Waukewan Golf Club, Meredith for over ten years. He was also a member of the Funspot Bowling Alley, and the American Legion Post 1670, Laconia.
Larry is survived by the love of his life, Janet (Fredette) Bickford, of Belmont; two sisters; Lorraine D. (Bickford) and her husband Roland E. Poire of Laconia, and Jean (Bickford) Landrine Shaver of Maryland. Other family members include his mother-in-law Bertha Fredette, five sister-in-laws; Doris and her husband George Watson, Irene Carter, Lois and her husband Roland Vermette, all of Sanford, Maine and Rosemond Carpenter of New Bedford, Mass. and Linda (Bickford) Queer of Penn., one brother-in-law; Dickie Fredette and his wife, Kim, of Sanford, Maine; two cousins; Doris Lapienka of Franklin, and Wilfred Godbout of Belmont and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday October 21, 2010 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Wilkinson-Beane -Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home 164 Pleasant Street Laconia using the Carriage House entrance.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday October 22, 2010 at 10:00 AM at the Blessed Andre Bessette Parish, St. Joseph Church 30 Church Street Laconia.
Burial will follow in St. Lambert Cemetery, Laconia.
Larry was predeceased by his parents, his step-fathers; Harold Gilman and Lionel LaCasse who was married to Larry’s mother for over 25 years, two brothers; Richard L. Bickford (in 1964) and Robert K. Bickford (in 1984) and a sister Irene M.(Bickford)Tivey (in 1994) and her husband Burton Tivey.
