Rudolph M. Caruso, 87, of New Bedford died October 16, 2010 at St. Luke's Hospital surrounded by his family.
He was the husband of the late Palmina A. "Pam" (Pasquantonio) Caruso with whom he shared 58 years of marriage.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Michael and Camela (Yellenti) Caruso, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life.
Mr. Caruso was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church.
He was formerly employed by Metropolitan Life Insurance Company for 40 years until his retirement. He was the proprietor of Caruso's Fish and Chips in New Bedford.
Mr. Caruso was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Men's league, the Sons of Italy and the Italian Literary and Mutual Aid Society. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include a son, Paul Caruso and his wife Nancy of Bristol, RI; 5 daughters, Christine Kennedy and her husband Bruce of Melbourne, FL, Elena Caruso and her companion Paul Caplan and Regina Jalbert and her husband Richard, all of Dartmouth, Patricia Arruda and her husband Steven of Westport and Andrea Caruso of New Bedford; 8 grandchildren, Cheryl Curtis, James Kennedy, Brian Jalbert, Carolyn Caruso, Catherine Caruso, Christina Caruso, Allison Arruda and Lauren Arruda; 2 great-grandchildren, Bailey Curtis and Ryan Curtis; several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Thelma Baker, Adeline Loughran and Jessie Paoloni.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford Friday, October 22nd at 9 AM. Funeral at St. Francis of Assisi Church at 10 AM. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours Thursday, October 21st from 4-8 PM.
