Louise Haley Collins Stevens, 68, of Mayodan, NC, formerly of Wood Avenue, Danville, died Thursday, October 14, 2010, at Moses Cone Hospital, Greensboro, NC. Born May 29, 1942, in the Brosville community of Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of the late Claude Haley, Sr. and Vivian Paschall Haley. She was first married to Richard B. Collins who predeceased her and later married James Stevens who survives.
Mrs. Stevens lived most of her life in Danville and Brosville and retired after 33 years employment with Health Tex. She attended Bethlehem Baptist Church of Brosville and Christ Freewill Church of Stokesdale.
In addition to her husband she is survived by a daughter, Patricia Matherly of Yanceyville, NC; two sons, Roger Dale Collins of Danville and Richard Wayne Collins of Danville; a sister, Emma Dillard of Danville and a brother, Claude Alfred Haley of Brosville. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 18, 2010, at Swicegood chapel. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home and at other times the family will be located at 701 Sam Haley Road, Brosville, VA and 602 North Fourth Avenue, Mayodan, NC.
