Peabody: Jeanne-Marie (Tremblay) Grenier age 88 of Peabody, died Friday, October 15, 2010, at Epoch Senior Healthcare of Weston following a long illness. She was the wife of the late Placide E. Grenier.
Born and raised in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Florida (Tremblay) Tremblay. A graduate of Burdett Business School, she first worked in bookkeeping for the former National House Furniture in Salem. Married to Placide in 1948, Jeanne-Marie devoted all her attention to her family and to creating a nurturing home. In later years she worked for Empire Clothing and Fanny Farmer Candies both located at the Liberty Tree Mall in Danvers.
Jeanne-Marie was a member of the former St. Joseph Parish of Salem and, upon moving to Peabody in 1978, became a member of St. John the Baptist Parish of Peabody. When not focused on her family, she had a passion for gardening, crocheting and knitting.
She is survived by 5 daughters: Theresa Berube and her husband Roger of Peabody, Jacqueline Poussard and her husband Henry of Danvers, Suzanne Merrill and her husband Kenneth of Peabody, Claudette Frechette and her husband Richard of Dracut, Carolyn Languirand and her husband Thomas of Peabody, a son, Mark Grenier and his wife Susan of Danvers, 12 grandchildren, Lauren & Jennifer Poussard, Michelle (Berube) Losolfo, Melissa (Berube) Mootafian, Lisa & Shelley Frechette, Sarah (Languirand) Lemarier, Brett & Allyson Languirand, and Megan, Samantha & Zackary Grenier. She is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Edward and Bernard Tremblay.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Rt. 114 / 1-A] Salem on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at 7:45 a.m. to be followed by her funeral mass in St. John the Baptist Church, Church St., Peabody (behind city hall) at 9 a.m. Visiting hours will be on Monday 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
