Sallie Rathbun Morris, 97, of Fitzgerald, Georgia died Friday, October 15, 2010 at Community Hospice in Jacksonville, Florida.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, October 19, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with Rev. Timothy Staier, Rev. Shane Smith, Rev. James Scott, Rev. Clayton McCormick and Rev. W.C. Cobb officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM, Monday, October 18 at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Morris was born October 15, 1913 in Fitzgerald, Georgia to the late John K. and Laura Howell Rathbun. She was the granddsughter of Hallet Rathbun, a Fitzgerald Pioneer from Wisconsin. She lived in Fitzgerald most of her life and for the past twelve years made her home in Florida with her daughter.
Mrs. Morris is survived by her daughter: Dell Morris Rutherford of Glen Saint Mary, FL; sons and daughters-in-law: Gerald & Norman Morris of St. Augustine, FL, John Edward & Jane Morris of Decatur, GA and Lamar & Linda Morris of St. Augustine, FL; 9 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; sisters: Reba Reeves of Fitzgerald and Ann Paulk of Jacksonville, FL. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Lee Morris; daughter, Merita Morris; grandson, Richard Glen Morris; son-in-law, James P. Rutherford; three sisters, Jean Troup, Ruth Beck, Dixie Fountain; and two brothers, John H. "Bud" Rathburn and Howell "Tut" Rathburn.
