NEW BEDFORD — Darlene Rae St. Julien, 52, of New Bedford, passed away Friday, October 8, 2010, at St. Luke's Hospital of cancer.
Born in Springfield, she was the daughter of the late Wilson and Hazel (Landry) St. Julien. She resided in New Bedford for the past 12 years. She loved children and worked in day care centers throughout the city and as a teacher's aide for the Springfield and New Bedford Public Schools.
A communicant of Grace Episcopal Church, she volunteered her time in various capacities. Her generous, loving, compassionate nature; frank observations; keen sense of fashion; and devotion to her children endeared her to all she met. She earned an associate's degree in Early Childhood Education from Bristol Community College.
Darlene leaves her children, Justin St. Julien and Ashley St. Julien of New Bedford; 2 sisters, Linda St. Julien of Silver Spring, Maryland and Barbara St. Julien of Springfield, Mass.; 2 brothers, Wilson St. Julien, Jr., and his wife, Judy, of Glendale, Arizona and Gary St. Julien of San Francisco, California; a niece and several nephews. She leaves a dear friend, Joanne Gracia; godmother, Paula Gripes; godchild, Darryen Gripes; and many friends.
She was predeceased by a sister, Betty St. Julien.
Her funeral will be Saturday at 10 a.m., at Grace Episcopal Church, 133 School St., New Bedford, MA with a reception to follow.
