Mrs. Elizabeth Patricia (Duff) Silva, beloved wife of the late Manuel J. Silva and a resident of Lawrence and formerly of Andover, died at the Mary Immaculate Nursing Center in Lawrence on Thursday morning, October 14, 2010. She was 87 years old.
Born in Andover, Massachusetts, on November 25, 1922, she was the loving daughter of the late Thomas and Elizabeth (Lynch) Duff. Mrs. Silva was a former employee of the Converse Rubber Company and was also employed in the cafeteria for the Andover School Department, for many years.
She will be sorely missed by her daughter and son-in-law; Patricia and her husband Donald J. Smith of Sandown, New Hampshire, two sons and two daughters-in-law; Jeffrey J. and his wife Janice Silva of Derry, New Hampshire and Manuel J. and his wife Linda Silva of Methuen, six grandchildren, three great-grandsons and many nieces and nephews. Elizabeth was also the sister of the late Thomas Duff, Mary Ness, Rita Sapuppo and Dorothy Hajj.
Her funeral mass was celebrated in St. Augustine Church 43 Essex Street, Andover, Monday, October 18, 2010, at 1:15 PM. Many relatives and friends were in attendance. Calling hours were held in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover, Sunday, October 17, 2010, from 4 to 8 PM. Burial was in St. Augustine Cemetery, Andover.
